The Washington Nationals already seem like a club that will improve versus the MLB odds.

Now that they have #1 draft pick Bryce Harper, they look better still now. He is almost as hyped as Stephen Strasburg and might be affecting MLB lines within a couple of years.

MLB odds still do not favor the Washington Nationals very much but that is beginning to shift. Strasburg is a huge bit of the Washington Nationals future against the MLB odds as he was the pick last year. Now the Washington Nationals have included Harper to the mix. He’s thought to be among the best players to arrive from high school in a long time. Practically everyone is forecasting big things for the Washington Nationals #1 pick, although he’s just 17 years old. Since 1980 there are six players who’ve been drafted as an outfielder at 18 years or even younger. Harper contributes his name to an outstanding list. The Mets got Darryl Strawberry in 1980 and Shawn Abner in 1984. The Seattle Mariners got Ken Griffey Jr. in 1987 and the Rays got Josh Hamilton in 1999 and Delmon Young in 2003.

With amazing strength and a formidable outfield arm, the Washington Nationals are already taking a look at Harper as a number 3 hitter. Harper hit .443 with 31 homers and 98 RBIs in his initial college season. He was behind the plate in college but the Washington Nationals are relocating him the outfield where he can impact MLB odds.
