Four Big Underdogs in World Cup Wagering
World Cup wagering will have a lot of underdog squads this year, but there are 4 that really stick out.
Honduras, New Zealand and North Korea (Korea DPR) are each 500-1 in World Cup odds. Algeria is 200-1 but due to the fact they may not get a point in Group C, you can toss them in as a big long shot.
World Cup wagering lists Japan and South Korea with longer odds than Algeria but all those squads at the least has a possibility to get a point. It seems pretty less likely that New Zealand, Honduras, North Korea or Algeria will get a point in the World Cup. North Korea will be playing in the toughest group, putting them in serious trouble. They are going to be lucky to actually stay competitive in Group G. Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast are likely to rout them. The question isn’t whether or not North Korea can get a point; the question might possibly be whether they actually score a goal. North Korea seems the weakest out of all the squads in the 2010 World Cup.
Honduras seems to have pretty little chance in their group. They must play Spain, Chile and Switzerland in Group H. It’ll come down to the match versus Switzerland to see if they can get a point, since they are less likely to get anything versus Spain or Chile. It is only the second World Cup in history for Honduras. The squad played a friendly versus Belarus recently and the entire squad looked weak in a 2-2 draw.
New Zealand looks in over their head in World Cup odds but at least they play in a group that looks to be low scoring. The Italian squad isn’t full of powerful scorers, even though Group F likes Italy. Paraguay is not going to score a lot of goals and this is Slovakia’s 1st World Cup. New Zealand isn’t pretty good but they could be fortunate and squeeze out a point in Group F and if they do, they could decide who moves forward.
Algeria plays in a hard group with England and the United States but they are at least a squad with a possibility. The United States has been hard and England is one particular of the favorites in World Cup wagering, but Algeria can at least be competitive versus both squads. They might steal a point or two, but it is quite less likely that they will advance from Group C.
The FIFA World Cup for 2010 will begin on June 11th and is expected to run through July 11th. This is the first time ever that the World Cup has been hosted by an African nation. South Africa beat out Morocco and Egypt for the honor. The FIFA World Cup is held once every four years and features 32 teams from different nations competing against each other for the championship in football. This event has historically been dominated by Brazil, which holds a record five titles and is the only team to have played in every tournament. The current champion is Italy, which has won the title four times total. The next World Cup will be held in 2014 in Brazil.
